Delegates at the Preventive Mental Health Conference 2026 are invited by Prevention United to participate through a dedicated Slido survey in a series of prompts designed to help identify key opportunities for collaboration with the aim of improving mental health outcomes for those living in Australia, particularly for children and young people.

Together we will explore:

  • how we can strengthen different parts of the system;

  • where our collective efforts should be focused;

  • what is needed to enable meaningful progress.

Insights gathered through these discussions will help inform a position statement that can guide collective action across the sector and be shared with key decision-makers as we work to advance a stronger mental health promotion and prevention system in Australia.

To begin this process, Prevention United has drafted an initial statement informed by 5 interviews with experts across the sector, insights from Prevention United’s consultations across the various States and Territories, and the policy recommendations of the Wellbeing and Prevention Coalition in Mental Health. Delegates can download this ahead or during the conference to spark ideas and reflection.

Throughout the conference, delegates will have opportunities to help shape and refine this statement through Slido as they hear from researchers, practitioners, people with lived and living experience, and families, carers and supporters. In addition to Slido, Prevention United invites all Face-to-Face delegates to visit them at the PU exhibition space and share any other thoughts they may have.

The goal is to develop a final position statement with clear priorities that we can all take forward in Prevention United's work and future advocacy.
